Pictures: Part Deux

One of the new patterns called Twice as Nice...Plus More is what I'm working on now. You make 3 different size quilts out of a jelly roll. These are Pat's samples of the first quilt you make.


I just finished the first quilt's blocks today--tomorrow I hope to work on the 2nd quilt and get the 9-patch blocks made from the 1st quilt's scraps. These are Pat's:



Then you make a 3rd smaller quilt with the rest of the scraps. Hopefully, I'll get to that one on Sunday.

Aren't Pat's 3 pretty? I used a Moda Simplicity Jelly Roll and so far it looks beautiful--very soft and romantic. Not my usual style quilt at all, lol.

These are other new patterns that also make multiple quilts.

Next is Orion's Star in beautiful black, brown, tan, and cream fabrics.


And these extra quilts you can make from the same fabrics and pattern book.

And from the Maple Leaf pattern--a gorgeous Fall tablerunner

with an extra pattern to make it into a turkey for Thanksgiving!

from Pat Knoechle's visit to O'Susannah's Quilt Shop on May 24th and all the glorious quilts we saw. Pat is the sister of Eleanor Burns of Quilt in a Day. I'm sorry, but I didn't have the time to crop the pics.

I received this email today and want to pass it on to all of you-how appropriate for today:

After all the bad press over a few teachers who stepped out of line teaching songs to our children, this one is one you will be so proud to hear. At the end of the song you can order the sheet music. Awesome. I hope this sweeps our country and gets sung in all our schools. The music teacher wrote the song and had all the third graders sing. Enjoy -- great message.

I've Been Bad Again....

about not posting--and not because I don't have lots to show you. Just lazy, I guess--and spending too much time reading and goofing off. We lost power from 4PM to midnight 2 weeks ago, and the same quilt is still stuck under the needle on my sewing machine as it was when the power went out. I have to get that taken care of today, because I'm behind on getting my Easter Egg blocks done for a swap we're doing on Block Central's forum.

I do have lots to show you, though, just not my stuff. Here are pics from our last 2 Quilt Club days at Joan's. This is a quilt we're all making for Diane's sister, Linda, who has been in the hospital for months. We all pieced parts of it and Jane is quilting it. We hope it will lift Linda's spirits-she's been through so much.

These are 2 more of Sharon D's Christmas quilts. The colors are really gorgeous, and she did a great job of making the blocks to surround her panels.


Bonnie and her sister, Donna, made these nice bags using that Texture Magic stuff that scrunches up the fabric. I haven't tried it yet, but they say it's very easy. It must be because they've made several of these bags now--it's addicting, lol.

Here's the group hard at work-although some days it seems we do more talking that working.


Some days we work so hard, though, that Joan's kitty--our mascot--gets plumb worn out and has to do some recuperating. As you can see, she needs her rest. She's such a sweet kitty--I guess that's because she loves whipped cream and ate most of mine off my pie the other day!

Yesterday I went with friends to Pat Knoechle's presentation at O'Susannah's in Watkins Glen. I'll show you all my pictures over the next couple of days. What gorgeous quilts-great inspiration for me to get that needle back out of the quilt and get sewing again!

More Show and Tell

Every Wednesday at Quilt Club someone has something wonderful to show. Last week it was Bonnie with a new purse made with that new "crinkle" stuff. Plus, Joan had the borders on her 2009 LQS BOM quilt and it was all quilted - beautiful! I finally had the seashore baby quilt finished for my friend, Sharon C's first grandbaby. I made it from the Happy Block Swap last year on the Quilting Sisters Yahoo Group. Jane quilted it with lighthouses, sand pails and shovels, starfish, and seashells. The quilting is gorgeous and really makes the quilt. Too bad you can't see the quilting. Some of us also joined the new Quilting Football League spreading nationally at independant quilt shops (click my sidebar logo for more info), so I had to make the travel folder to hold all my QFL paperwork. We joined O'Susannah's Race Team (what else, with Watkins Glen Internatinal Raceway just up the road, lol), so I made mine in our team colors: lime green and purple!

This week we didn't have as much to show. Jane had this fab tabletopper made from leftover scraps, and Donna had another border on her wonderful house quilt. She does the most gorgeous hand and machine applique I've ever seen. Isn't this fantastic? Click on the picture for a bigger view.

I had to include a picture of our mascot-Joan's rescue kitty. She loves to sleep on our projects (or in our chairs if she can get there first, lol). She tried to snuggle up under Joan's BOM quilt--isn't she cute?

I finished up my giraffe blocks for a Quilty Auntie baby quilt over on the Quilt and Needle Forum and did my Civil War blocks for Block Central's June Fav Block Swap. The colors didn't come out right on the CW block-must be too much light on the block.

Don't forget Mother's Day is coming up soon. The Gum Tree Designers have been posting some lovely needlework projects to make up for mom. Stop and visit their blog--you'll find at least one project you have to do.

Quilt Club today at Joan's....

and the girls had more show and tell. Sharon D finished a whole bunch of projects over the last week, so she is Queen for the Day. This is her Valentines Day project . Don't you just love her Halloween quilt? I have to get that pattern! And look at her Christmas Nativity quilt-it's gorgeous.

Joan has been busy, too. Last week I went to the eye doctor's before club, so I couldn't see to sew, so I ironed for everyone. I must have pressed tons of little pieced strips for Joan, and here is the beautiful result. This is the Hugs and Kisses free pattern from QuiltPox. We used this pattern for one of my other groups to make a baby quilt for one of the members. It looks hard, but is very easy and the directions are super clear. Goes together really fast and is a great size for a baby quilt.

Joan also worked on a couple of Christmas tablerunners-only the bindings left to do. This pattern is similar to one of Eleanor Burns Quilt-in-a-Day patterns, but Joan found it on the internet and it was a freebie! Isn't it pretty?

Jane made a little boy's quilt using up leftover blocks and fabric from a sampler quilt she did last year. She is so talented and does wonderful machine quilting, too.

This is Bonnie's gorgeous pink and purple quilt. She doesn't like it, so she's going to donate it to her family reunion for a raffle. I love it! Two of my favorite colors. I tried to walk out with it under my coat this afternoon, but she caught me, lol, so I guess someone in her family will get to enjoy it.

Over at Block Central we did a Pincushion Swap and boy, did I luck out! Meg goofed when she mailed out her swap and sent it to me by mistake! So I got 2 lovely pincushions from her--but I can't show you yet--she told me to keep them and she'd make new ones for her real swap partner--so no pics til that is done. Don't want to spoil someone else's surprise. Then I received the swap from my real partner, and it is a really pretty pear pincushion from Susie. It was night when I wanted to take the picture, so I put it in the bathroom, where the light is really bright, so I'd get a good picture. Of course Katie has to be right in on everything, so I had to crop the picture to take out her whiskers, lol. Then had to get a picture of her and the pincushion. She put her seal of approval on it, so thanks, Susie, we both love it!

Tomorrow is Fat Quarter Frenzy at O'Susannah's, so have to get to bed early so I can be there bright and early in the AM, before all the good stuff is gone. So until next time...
